We asked about their beginnings, their journey,
keys to success, and finally, we invited the women to share a few words of
wisdom in hopes to inspire all women trying to make it happen.
So, for all the entrepreneurial women with a dream and a vision, who just need a little nudge of inspiration, keep reading; we hope the stories of these incredible women inspire you as much as they’ve inspired us.

Everyone’s favorite DJ, Farah Bishara (aka DJ Bonita)
took the risk of choosing a career path that was relatively new in Kuwait,
especially for a woman, eight years ago and hasn’t looked back since. Famous
for spinning 90’s hip hop sets, DJ Bonita has been spinning at the most
renowned brands including Kenzo, Tanagra, and GIA.
It’s fair to say that Farah Bishara has paved the way for female DJs in Kuwait, and we love her for it.
“I’ve always wanted to become a DJ, ever since
I was a little kid I used to listen to the radio. I had a stereo in my room, and
after every song, I’d turn down the volume and start speaking over the tracks” said
Farah, explaining how listening to music ignited a long-term passion that has
now made her into one of the most successful DJs in Kuwait.
But following your passion did not mean that it was an easy decision, Farah explained that her fear was carving a career path that essentially did not exist in Kuwait and taking the risk of potentially failing. How did she deal with that? “I continued to push. Even when things got hard, I continued to push.”
It wasn’t an easy road, but there’s no stopping you if you believe in yourself and that you will do it, because to her, the reward is already greater than the risk.
Farah Bishara’s persistence, determination, and hard work paid off: Today, she is one of the most successful DJs in Kuwait, who had her own radio show and currently is also the owner of the first Vinyl store (Vinyl Destination) in Kuwait. DJ Bonita has effectively used her passion and all its different genres to create a successful career in music.
After finding success as one of the earliest Kuwaiti
female DJs, Bishara now wants to give back; She wants to share her knowledge and
love for music in form of electives or after school activities and teach the
younger generation classes such as the theory of music, the history of music
and its different genres, and even teach them how to DJ.
“Always remember that there is no glass ceiling
and there is always a sticky floor, and the sticky floor is your limitations
and limiting beliefs that you have about yourself, your fear of failure, fear
of not being good enough. Your success and your opportunities are only relevant
to how hard you work. If there’s something that you really want to do and you
keep thinking about it, just do it. Even if it fails, do it. Go get’em, girl!”
